SANTA EULALIA

Saint Eulalia was the patron of  Barcelona on her own for a very long time, after the XIII C the devotion to Virgin Mary of Mercy sprung up all over Europe and also in Barcelona, nowadays both of them share the honor of being the patron of the city, so we have two festivals in our old town, on 12th February we celebrate Saint Eulalia and on 24th Septembrer Virgin Mary of Mercy (la Mercé)

The legend said that Saint Eulalia, the "wellspoken", came to Barcino in order to defend the rights of the Christians, because during Diocleciano period (Roman emperator during the III C AC) they were persecuted.
