LES VITRAUX À LA SAGRADA FAMILIA

La lumière naturelle est très importante dans le concept de la Sagrada Familia, l'oeuvre la plus importante de Gaudí, nous avons beaucoup de fenêtres dans les murs de l'église et toutes vont avoir des vitraux, Joan Vila-Grau est l'artiste qui est en train de les faire, il suit l'ancienne téchnique de plomber de petits morceaux de verre de couleur, les couleurs foncées dessous et les plus claires jusqu'au blanc plus haut, le dégradé symbolise la Résurrection  de Jésus.

THE CATHEDRAL OF SAINT EULALIA AND SAINT CROSS

Saint Eulalia, the Well Spoken,  is our patron, that's why you can see the lovely geese in the cloister of the Cathedral of Barcelona, there are thirteen of them in the courtyard in memory of the thirteen years old of Saint Eulalia when she was killed by Roman governor in the IV century AC

In the old times the geese used to help the cathedral guard because they are too noisy, and they let him know when somebody was triyng to get into the cloister

In the cathedral and underneath of the master altar you can visit the crypt of Saint Eulalia, the tradition says that the body of our patron is inside the sarcophagus.

TOMBS IN THE CATHEDRAL OF BARCELONA

In the old times people wanted to be buried in sacred land, they thought that they will arrive sooner and faster to heaven, that is the reason that we have a lot of tombs in the Cathedral of Saint Cross and Saint Eulalia. In the cloister we can see the graves of  professional guilds that were involve in the construction and maintenance of the Cathedral of Barcelona.
